 14.7-ounce Conserver
Like the original LIBERTY oxygen conserver by Allied Healthcare Products Inc, St Louis, the new automatic Mini LIBERTY™ engages when a patient starts to breathe and turns off when the cannula is removed from the patient’s face, making the cylinder’s oxygen supply last up to five times longer. A flashing green light on the display panel confirms oxygen delivery and proper functioning.

Weighing only 14.7 ounces, the Mini LIBERTY is powered by a single AA battery that will last 8 hours a day for 3 to 4 weeks. Both models come with a latex-free single cannula. The built-in oxygen regulator features an all-brass construction for long life and compliance with NIOSH safety codes. (800) 444-0105; www.alliedhpi.com.

 Convertible CPAP
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Laguna Hills, Calif, offers the HC211 convertible CPAP for first-time users. The versatile machine comes as a standard CPAP unit, but can be converted to the HC220LE series model with enhanced performance features. Sleep apnea patients can begin CPAP therapy and then add heated humidification if the need arises, yet still have all the benefits of true integration. There is no additional bulk with conversion. Pediatric Face Masks
Respironics Inc, Asthma and Allergy Division, Cedar Grove, NJ, introduces a pediatric mask, OptiChamber® Advantage Valved Holding Chamber (VHC). The mask conforms and seals around various facial features for a custom-fit feel. Built-in reinforcements prevent it from collapsing and assist caregivers in maintaining a seal. The pediatric mask reduces “dead space” and is detachable from the OptiChamber Advantage VHC mouthpiece, so that a single chamber allows a child to transition from mask to mouthpiece without a new chamber. The masks come in small and medium sizes for infants and children, and large face masks are available for elderly patients. (800) 345-6443; www.respironics.com.
