The Faces of Medtrade Orlando 2004
It is hard to believe, but another Medtrade has come and gone. In this expanded Medtrade Manufacturing News section, we are proud to bring you some of the numerous personalities that provided the shows typical energy and enthusiasm. As you gaze at just a few of these faces (advertisers in this issue are featured here), it becomes readily apparent that people, not equipment, are at the heart of every show. With the initiative, knowledge, caring, and innovation of manufacturers and providers working together, the conference is so much more than hardware. This year, the exhibit hall was again the home of the Medtrade Meeting Place and Grassroots Central, which is sponsored by Home Health Care Dealer/Provider. Grassroots Central provided an area where attendees could enjoy speakers (such as Tom Lambert pictured belowalso the subject of this months cover profile on page 12) and panel discussions. Look for the third annual Grassroots Central at next years show in Atlanta. In a fitting start to this years show, David T. Williams and Juliette Rizzo offered unique perspectives as users of durable medical equipment and advocates for the industry. Williams is a consultant for political and legislative strategy and former director of government affairs for Invacare Corp, Elyria, Ohio. Rizzo is the reigning Ms Wheelchair America (both pictured below). What began with 55 exhibitors and 200 attendees in 1979, has grown to 21,000 attendees and approximately 900 exhibitors. Next year, event producers will return to Atlanta, the city of Medtrades inception. Mark your calendar for October 18-20, 2005, at the Georgia World Congress Center.
