ResMed Announces Record Financial Results
ResMed Inc, Poway, Calif, an-nounced record revenue and income results for the quarter ended December 31, 2004. Re-venue for the quarter was $103.9 million, a 26% increase over the quarter ended December 31, 2003. “These robust financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2005 reflect ResMed’s continuing sales and profit growth. Domestic sales increased by 27% over the Dec-ember 2004 quarter to $52.3 million, reflecting an outstanding effort from our sales team and strong demand for our new Mirage Swift patient interface,” says Peter C. Farrell, PhD, chairman and CEO. “International sales increased by 25% over the December 2004 quarter, to $51.6 million, reflecting growth in all our major markets as well as a stronger Euro. In addition, we expanded our international operations with the acquisition of Resprecare, our exclusive distributor in the Netherlands, and we continue to evaluate additional opportunities for international expansion.”


 InnoMed Appoints New CEO
InnoMed Technologies Inc, Greensburg, Pa, has named Sanjay Chandran (pictured) as its new CEO. Previously, Chandran was a senior executive with GE Healthcare, where he grew a medical devices business from $11 million in annual revenues to over $40 million in just 3 years. As part of his duties at InnoMed, Chandran will assist in running Mergenet Medical, a technology incubator. “With cutting edge products, engineering expertise, and excellent customer relationships,” says Chandran, “we are very well positioned to grow 40% to 50% a year for the foreseeable future.”


DME Industry Has New High Tech Company
Unitas Technologies Inc, Chicopee, Mass, a software development company focused on software applications for use in the DME industry, opened its doors by launching its two main product families: Unitas Information System (UIS®) and its Web-based Electronic Referral Management (ERM®) tool. “We have a unique approach to developing cost-effective applications, and I look forward to bringing these tools to other companies with information technology needs,” says Matthew Burke, director of operations for Burke Medical Equipment Inc and Unitas CEO. The company has another ERM under development for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) referrals, home nursing referrals, and other medical equipment referrals. Unitas is also launching a custom software development group that will focus on taking the core Unitas application and adapting it for use in other markets.


Clarke Health Products Names Jason Everett National Sales Manager
Clarke Health Care Products, Oakdale, Pa, recently announced that Jason Everett has been named national sales manager. Reporting to Jerry Clarke, president of Clark HCP, Everett will be responsible for overseeing the corporate sales representatives as well as the independent reps. Everett joined Clarke HCP in 2004 as a sales representative in Texas and brings 7 years of managerial experience as well as sales experience from a related industry.


Invacare Reports Earnings
Invacare reported a decrease in earnings for the fourth quarter with earnings per share falling 15% and net earnings from the quarter falling to $20.4 million as compared to $23.7 million last year. Restrictive Medicare reimbursement policies for power wheelchairs, higher raw materials costs, and increased freight costs were factors that led gross margin as a percentage of net sales to be lower. Net sales for the quarter increased 15% to $393.2 million vs $343.0 million last year. Foreign currency accounted for three percentage points of the net sales increase, while acquisitions contributed 12 percentage points for the quarter.


Ed McMahon Introduced as Pride Mobility Spokesperson
Pride Mobility Products Corp, Exeter, Pa, recently introduced Ed McMahon as the company’s newest spokesperson. Pride will feature McMahon in a campaign designed for Pride Providers to use him in all aspects of their marketing programs.


CHAD Therapeutics Announces Third Quarter Results
CHAD Therapeutics Inc, Chatsworth, Calif, declared higher revenue and net income for the third quarter and first 9 months of fiscal 2005, and provided revised revenue and earnings guidance for fiscal 2005 and initial guidance for fiscal 2006. “While we have scaled back our growth projection for fiscal 2005 to reflect currently anticipated product delivery schedules, we continue to expect significant top- and bottom-line growth in fiscal 2005 and again in fiscal 2006 based on the success of our new SAGE Therapeutic Device and the improved outlook for our TOTAL O2® Delivery System,” says Earl L. Yager, president and CEO.
