Peter C. Farrell ResMed to Acquire Saime SA ResMed Inc, Poway, Calif, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Saime SA, Savigny, France, a leading developer and distributor of ventilation products in France and Germany. ResMed has agreed to acquire Financiere ACE SAS, the holding company for Saime SA and its affiliates, for an enterprise value of approximately 86 million Euro, consisting of approximately 40 million euro in equity and 46 million euro in net debt. “The acquisition of Saime will complete our line of home care ventilation products and immediately expand our market presence and distribution network in Europe and other regions,” says Peter C. Farrell, PhD, ResMed’s chairman and CEO. “The VS and Elisee range of products are sophisticated, yet easy to use for physicians, clinicians, and patients. We believe these devices will complement our VPAP III and AutoSet CS de-vices and will allow us to provide the full range of options for patients who need ventilatory assistance.”

Invacare Corp Reports Earnings
Invacare Corp, Elyria, Ohio, announced that its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2005, were in range with previous guidance. Earnings per share for the quarter decreased 5% to $0.42 versus $0.44 for the first quarter last year, while net earnings for the quarter were $13.5 million versus $14.2 million for the first quarter last year. Net sales for the quarter increased 15% to $370.9 million versus $321.3 million for the first quarter last year.

Miller Joins Connectyx Board

ResMed Inc Financial Results
ResMed Inc, Poway, Calif, reported record revenue and income results for the quarter ended March 31, 2005. Revenue for the quarter was $108.5 million, a 19% increase over the quarter ended March 31, 2004. “In the March quarter we were pleased to introduce our S8 Escape flow generator, one of the smallest devices on the market,” says Peter C. Farrell, PhD, chairman and CEO. “The Escape launch in the United States is the beginning of a phased launch of the new S8 flow generator platform, which we expect to continue over the next 12 months. During the quarter, we also expanded our international operations with the acquisition of Hoefner Medizintechnik GmbH, our distributor in Bavaria, Germany.

“By the end of the fiscal year,” adds Farrell, “we expect to have completed integration of our German operations and to be selling a complete line of ventilation products into the European home care market.”
