Reimbursements rarely go up in the home care world, so it is no secret that providers must boost operational efficiency, reduce rejected claims, and secure accurate and timely payment from third-party payors to remain profitable. An online survey of our readers conducted in May shows that providers are getting this message, but they are not overly impressed with the service or products they are receiving. For example, 71% of respondents said they “waited on the provider to meet at the last minute” about new compliance regulations or were “provided with the solution, but at a premium.” On the topic of usability, a staggering 95% said that most employees do not understand and are not able to use all functions of the software they have. Check out these additional results to get a clearer picture.

Q: What is the reason you have not considered document management/paperless solutions?
Answers:
• “Not available for certain business lines…”
• “I see some benefit but not enough to justify the time and cost at this time.”
• “The learning curve is too steep.”

Q: If you are looking to make a software change, why are you considering this option?
Answers:
• “My current software is not Windows-based.”
• “All I get are promises promises by my current vendor.”
• “I’d like to see a better functional software.”
